Chicago Cider Summit 2018 Preview

I’m coming home again. Not just a great line from Kanye. A reference to being in one of the greatest cities in the US, Chicago. One of the biggest events in the cider world happens right here in the Midwest. This is Cider Summit, and it takes place February 17th.

The event is broken into two sessions 11 a.m.-3 p.m. & 4 p.m.-8 p.m., in the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier. The event showcases around 200 ciders, meads and cocktails at separate booths that gives the opportunity to talk with the cidermakers and their team. This year there is an oaked cider challenge which is presented by Enartis, many different ciders will be made for the event and attendees will be able to vote for the winner via text.

Additional highlights include a Cider Cocktail Lounge area, presented by Old Forester, expanded food pairings and the Cider Summit store featuring event merchandise and various cider souvenirs. For the second year, Cider Summit will debut its collaboration cider at the Chicago event. This year’s collaboration partner is Tieton Cider Works. “We are thrilled to return to Navy Pier for our 6th annual event,” noted event co-founder, Alan Shapiro. “As awareness continues to grow and we welcome the cider-curious, we are thrilled that Chicago has really embraced our festival and has the highest attendance numbers among our four cities.”
