September 29, 2020The Big Book Of Cidermaking: Review
October 6, 2020Angry Orchard releases new locally-sourced series of craft hard cider!
Many in and outside of the cider industry know Angry Orchard as a brand. At CiderScene, we have already started showing you that Angry Orchard is making legitimate craft hard cider in Hudson Valley, New York. Our recent article, Getting to the Other Side of the Orchard: Angry Orchard, highlights some of their delicious dry ciders coming through their doors including Newtown Pippen (a single varietal), Understood In Motion (collaborative series with Eden, EZ Orchard, then Tom Oliver), and Francenstein (co-fermented wine/cider hybrid). We are excited to see Angry Orchard expand their craft offerings. Say hello to The Farm Series!
The Farm Series is a celebration of New York State agriculture and the quality fruit and crops that grow so close to home. These three ciders showcase apples from the season’s harvest, along with ingredients sourced from a handful of purveyors throughout New York State. Each batch of Farm Cider is blended to create a delicious and balanced cider utilizing local ingredients.
FARM CIDER MEDIUM
ABV: 6.4%
Farm Medium is light-bodied and filtered, with a touch of acidity. It has a fresh, juicy aroma that gives way to a ripe apple flavor.
FARM CIDER HONEY GINGER
ABV: 6.3%
This batch is sweetened with organic wildflower honey from Honeybrook Farms, located just up the road. It also features a ginger spice, which complements the floral characters of the honey, creating a slightly sweet and balanced cider.
FARM CIDER HOPPED
ABV: 6.5%
Farm Cider Hopped is blended with New York State grown hops, and yes, it’s still gluten-free! During the fermentation process, we add in Galaxy and Centennial hops. The result is a nice dry cider with a pleasing hoppy aroma.
To give you a better sense of where these ciders stack in the sense of dryness and sweetness, Angry Orchard has provided a scale for consumers. Keep in mind that even the driest cider, Farm Cider Hopped, is not a bone dry offering. All of them are more in the middle of the scale.
We love how The Farm Series is focused on using local agriculture to produce this dry-to-sweet collection of craft hard cider. It’s time to start think of Angry Orchard as a go-to for new craft cider products, people!
The Farm Series is currently available on draft at the orchard for $7 and 4-packs of to-go cider are available for $12 each.
