September 1, 2020I’ve been adventuring, relaxing and enjoying a lot of PNW cideries lately! Having a blast meeting the makers and getting to know their companies! Today, let me introduce you to Bend Cider!
I was so thankful and excited to be able to stop in Bend Cider after hiking Tumalo Mountain to chat with Tammy and Kelly about their sweet company. Kelly has been making ciders for 13 years and it started on a quest to a more sustainable lifestyle by utilizing free apples growing in the community, then developed into a passion combining his creative qualities and scientific curiosities. Now, he and his wife, Tammy, are the brains, makers and owners of Bend Cider.
The coolest thing about Bend Cider is their quest to help the environment and engage others in a more sustainable lifestyle. Each animal pictured on their fabulous cans is an endangered species and a portion of each can purchase goes to a local group that teaches environmental education to kids…a cause I think anyone can get behind!
Their current rotation is Açaí Mint, Mandarin Juniper, and Dry Apple. All three are dry botanical ciders that are lightly carbonated and make for an excellent getaway treat! My friend that is not usually a dry cider fan absolutely adored these flavors! The flavors take on different base flavors depending on what you’re pairing with the cider to eat. In the Açaí Mint, sometimes you taste hints of açaí first while sometimes you taste the mint. With the Mandarin Juniper, sometimes you get the juniper flavor first and other times you get the mandarin. With all of the flavors, there is no sharp or bitter aftertaste, making them a refreshing cider for any occasion!
Their tasting room will be opening soon, and I got to have a little sneak peek of the outdoor area, so I can tell you that y’all are in for a good time! Shoot them a follow to stay tuned and grab a Bend Cider while you’re out in Bend! Visit them on Instagram or Facebook.
