Cankeeper Review
May 19, 2020Get To Know Graft Cider & Backpack Brands
May 27, 2020From Taz:
All this time inside has got me thinking about all of the cider festivals I had the pleasure of attending, from Toronto Cider Festival, to Cheers Caledon all the way to New Zealand Cider Festival. Festivals are great ways to try all the different ciders from around your area (and a bit outside of it). They have never failed to introduce me to some of my favourite ciders. However…the downside is that some of them are terribly hard to locate so I can buy them! I know…how devastating. I’ve created a list of some of my favourite ciders that are hard to find- so if you find these hidden Canadian gems…GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN! Where are you ciders? Why can’t I find you?
Heritage Estates Strawberry Eden Apple
ABV: 6%
Style: Sweet + with fresh Ontario strawberry juice added
*Just released into stores this spring (maybe why I haven’t been able to find it!) Hopefully it comes to my area.
Duntroon Cyder House’s: Raindance
ABV: 4.3%
Style: Cloudy-Off Dry + light tart Rhubarb hints
This one I tried at Toronto Cider Festival 2019 and I descried it as having “rhubarb infusion”
Shiny Apple Cider’s: Bootleg Whisky Barrel Aged Cider
ABV: 7%
Style: Full-bodied and surprise sweetness
If you know me, I’m a huge whisky fan and this does not disappoint. I know I’ve freaked out at the word “aged” before, but alas it was nothing to fear.
East Street Cider’s: Watermelon Mint Cider
ABV: No idea
Style: Semi-Sweet & Crisp
This one last time I checked is only in local bars/restaurants in Goderich, Ontario (lucky you guys) and may be seasonal. It is definitely a wonderful summer drink to sip!
County Cider’s: Blackberry Peach
ABV: 6.5%
Style: Sweet & full of fruit flavour
This one is another wonderful fruity cider that is great in the summer and I was over the moon when I tried this. You can taste both fruits featured, which is amazing.
Niagara Cider Company’s: Rose Gold
ABV: 6%
Style: Dry, but not too dry if you know what I’m saying
Last but not least, is a cider close to my area locally! I’ve been able to find their original apple cider but the rose gold has been mysteriously hard to find. This cider is soaked in berries, which gives it a unique twist.
