On our endless search for everything cider, we have found a new way to interpret “wash it down with a cider”. This comes in the form of cider soap from Flatirons Soap Works out of Colorado. We were able to get our hands on their dope soaps that utilize Stem Ciders.
These hand made cider soap are individually scented to highlight the cider’s scents and profiles. Each soap includes the following ingredients: coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil, castor oil, sodium hydroxide, Stem Cider, body-safe fragrances, and titanium dioxide. They note that the palm oil comes strictly from a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). This is a group that puts strict standards on their cultivation of palm oil and its something we can all get behind! They come in four scents currently: lavender, hibiscus, apple cider, and caramel. We were able to try their hibiscus soap and one made with a specialty cider from Stem, Crabby Neighbor.
The Hibiscus cider was red in color with a gold glitter stamp of the Stem logo. It has a fruity, hibiscus scent that makes you want to grab some of the cider and enjoy it. When you start to wash your hands, there is a very smooth and clean lather with small bubbles. It leaves a nice feel on your skin and you can smell the fragrance on your skin long after the wash, although it is fainter. The best part was the feel of your hands after some time, it keeps the oils in your skin for long-term smoothness, no oiliness.
The Crabby Neighbor was very similar in terms of the feel and experience, but the scent profile was different. It was a pale beige, with a glitter stamp of the logo, and a swirl of blue/teal glitter through the bar. The profile here was like a juicy granny smith apples, pear, with a bit of a tart scent that you can pick up. This soap, along with the hibiscus offering, were both high-quality products that would be good for a cider lover.

Crabby Neighbor – a 6.3% abv cider made from Crab apples and Granny Smith apples. The flavor profile is tart with lingering tannins. These are available in 500mL bottles and kegs.
Hibiscus – a 4.3% abv sessionable cider infused with hibiscus tea. This comes in 12oz cans and kegs.
