Back after a two-year hiatus, the eighth annual CiderFest NC fundraiser returns with cider makers, food trucks, live music, crafts and kids activities for its celebration of hard cider, community and sustainability at a new venue, Olivette Riverside Community and Farm. Nonprofit Green Built Alliance is partnering with nonprofit NC Cider Association for the first time to host the fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022, during the peak of fall colors just 6.7 miles from downtown Asheville, N.C For cider lovers sampling sips from some of the nation’s best craft cider and mead makers, or foodies tasting small bites from some of Western North Carolina’s best local food producers; from families seeking a destination for kid-friendly fall activities, to area residents wanting to support and learn more about sustainability; CiderFest NC has something for everyone.
The 2022 event is expected to draw another sell-out crowd to sample sips from a diverse mix of local and national, small and large pourers. In addition to tasting cider and mead, attendees can enjoy free bites of artisanal food and purchase more robust meals from a selection of local food trucks. Bottles and cans of cider for takeaway will also be for sale.
Again this year, a limited number of VIT (Very Important Taster) tickets offer advance entry to the event a full hour early beginning at noon. VIT ticket holders will enjoy exclusive access to tastings from cider and mead makers and artisanal food vendors before the crowds arrive. They may even have the opportunity to sample specialty, small-batch or limited-release ciders and meads that won’t be available during the regular event.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to celebrate Asheville’s amazing craft beverage scene and support local businesses, while also continuing our fundraiser for our nonprofit’s work of advancing sustainability in the built environment,” Cari Barcas, Associate Director of Green Built Alliance said. “It is more important than ever to support local small businesses and craft makers, and to maintain our nonprofit’s work of making the places we all live and work
healthier for us and for the environment.”
“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Green Built Alliance on this exceptional festival that engages attendees with cider, mead, food, speakers and activities,” stated Lyndon Smith, Board President of NCCA. “Our statewide association of award-winning cidermakers brings a wealth of expertise and high-quality cider to the festival. We have worked diligently as an CiderFest NC: Celebrating cider, community and sustainability since 2013 association and our members are proud to play a role in fundraising for both of the organizations involved in making this festival happen.”
“Producing events that gather and give back to our talented community is a cornerstone of our business,” shares Shay Brown, Founder and Owner of Shay Brown Events Management. “We are honored to be working with CiderFest, Green Built Alliance and the NC Cider Association to create a memorable experience for attendees, cider makers and vendors at one of our favorite riverside venues.”

ABOUT CIDERFEST NC:
CiderFest began in 2013 as a fall fundraiser for the nonprofit WNC Green Building Council with the intention of serving locally produced apples, cheese and hard cider to about 60 guests. The event exceeded those expectations in its first year by a wide margin as it sold out with 400 attendees. Almost overnight, CiderFest NC became widely recognized as the very first hard-cider tasting festival in North Carolina. The event is now in its eighth year as the largest annual fundraiser hosted by the nonprofit Green Built Alliance. This year, Green Built Alliance welcomes the partnership of the nonprofit NC Cider Association and event producer Shay Brown Events Management as they continue to grow the event’s success.
