Nipyata Review: Don’t Knock It Until You Try ItApril 13, 2022
North Country Cider: Lineup ReviewApril 26, 2022
Three Guys took a trip out to Bluemont, Virginia to answer the age old question, what does a hen weigh? And does it make quality hard cider. They were able to take the four hour drive to see the beautiful landscape, farm animals, and taste some delicious Virginia cider. The Henway team showed them around the property on a wagon ride to see all of the U-pick apples and to dig deeper into the history of their business.
Pat even went to the kids area where all the snacks and toys live. He may even have on a pig nose!
About Henway Cider:
Going back five generations, the Horlander family gathered around their dinner table every Sunday night for family dinner. Herman Graham Horlander, a grower of fowl and meat processor, proudly served chicken at every Sunday dinner. Grandfather Horlander always knew the history of that particular bird, as he was the one responsible for its pre-table existence. Guests and family members alike would always remark on the marvelous platter of hen as it was being passed around the table. Inevitably, someone would always ask grandfather Horlander, “what’s a hen weigh?” To which he would joyfully respond, “about five pounds!”
This scenario was repeated over the course of many years and many chicken dinners, and Grandfather Horlander was proud of his contribution.
Henway cider has some great ciders including The Coop, a semi-sweet, light sparkling cider; The Brut, a bright champagne-like cider; and Apple Cider Donut offering. Can you guess the flavor profile?
