Hounds of Erie Winery is now offering an innovative, safe solution for wine enthusiasts to visit this Norfolk County destination.
Realizing the 2020 winery season is in a unique state has allowed owners Mat & Melissa Vaughan the opportunity to offer winery guests a safe visit to their winery while physically distancing: A self-guided wine tour.
Winery guests who find themselves wanting a bit more of an outing without the worry of coming into contact with others can now enjoy a self-guided tour by appointment. Launching Saturday April 25, 2020 guests are encouraged to bring their pups along to the dog-friendly winery, allowing both, pup and owner a wonderful hour of exclusive winery time.
The tour has nine stations located around the winery. Each guest who books the tour will be equipped to host their group of 4 or less guests (no limit on pups) with a map, and link to the winery’s virtual tour guide, wine maker and owner Mat Vaughan. The link to exclusive videos that coordinate with each stop of the tour are sent to the organizing guest prior to their visit.
Making the tour experience as seamless and contact-free as possible, guests can pre-order and purchase a beverage prior to their visit. Upon arrival, their custom order will be waiting at the ‘Welcome Station’ for them to enjoy on their self guided-virtual tour. Being mindful of each guest safety & peace of mind visitors will be given one hour time slots to enjoy their tour. Guests are asked to respect tour times as this guarantees no contact with the next tour group. All hard ciders and both red and white wines are available for purchase during the tour. A simple email, phone call or text while mid tour allows winery staff to pre-package items and have them waiting next to the guests’ vehicle to take home with them.
All virtual winery tours are FREE and no purchase of product is required. “We simply want to offer a place to enjoy fresh air, gorgeous vineyard views, let your pup run and to feel calm and safe during a time that does not boast these qualities,” says winery owner Mat Vaughan.
Now a proud Norfolk County winery owner, the former Kitchener-Waterloo native along and with his family have steadily grown their boutique winery. Combining quality and experience all in one location is a dream come true. Vaughan often says, “we want our guests to take home the story of their experience at our winery and share it with friends and family the experience they take home is what matters most”.
