Why Does Alcohol Make You Drunk?
March 21, 2017Cider Rite of Spring Event Recap
March 30, 2017Will you take it shaken or stirred? We are in the season of cocktails and have found some great drinking coming for the Pacific Northwest. Fitting into that thread, we have seen a desire for cider-based cocktails. CiderScene will be creating a video series of cocktails inspired by ciders & cidermakers we meet, starting with these two Oregon (Pacific Northwest) products.
Our first cocktail, the Im-Pear-Mint, is made with Wild Roots Pear-infused Vodka and Flatbed Cider’s Pear offering. You can watch as we handle making this fresh cocktails above with an ingredient list to boot. The Wild Roots Pear vodka is “infused with Northwest pears, known for their bright fresh sweetness & delicate floral hints. Made only with real pears with only real pears from local Northwest farms.” The Flatbed Cider, also with pear flavoring, is a cider also made with Northwest pears that delivers a crisp and clean taste while retaining its 6.5% abv.
Our inspiration for the cocktail takes elements of a mojito and pairs it together with the fresh elements of the pear. The vodka & pear mixture create the base for the cocktail, while the mint-infused leaves in the ice give that refreshing punch. The cider reinforces the pear flavor and harbors an established amount of sugar like in a typical mojito. Adding the club soda adds the perfect finish for carbonation and a balanced profile. Sliced pears complete the cocktail with an edible garnish.
