Signs of Summer Sparkle At Portland Cider With Release of
Tangerine Dreamsicle and Passion Orange Guava Ciders
Outside of Portland Cider’s recent release of True Brut and Strawberry Pineapple, they have something for the warmer months.
Summer is upon us and Portland Cider Company has us covered. They are sharing the release of two refreshing seasonal cider creations: Passion Orange Guava (POG) and Tangerine Dreamsicle. Inspired by the flavors of summer vacations and sunshine, both ciders are available on tap at Portland Cider’s two Portland-area pubs, and are rolling onto retailer shelves in the weeks ahead.
Passion Orange Guava is richly fruity, with tart passion fruit and tangy citrus giving way to luscious, smooth guava. The flavors spark dreams of an island vacation, with ripe tropical fruit that lingers on the palate. POG is available at Portland CIder’s taprooms and on store shelves now.
“This cider is begging to be enjoyed under the sun, by a pool, in a hammock—or really anywhere you can close your eyes and pretend you’re on an island vacation,” said Helen Lewis, Portland Cider Co.’s marketing director. “Make sure it’s well-chilled before you pop it open, for maximum tropical joy.”
Creamy, juicy Tangerine Dreamsicle is designed to trigger summertime nostalgia, with bright and tangy tangerine juice swirled together with rich vanilla from Singing Dog Vanilla in Eugene, Oregon. The vanilla provides a waffle cone nose and a mellow flavor that balances perfectly with the zesty tangerine. Singing Dog Vanilla is known for its high-quality vanilla, and its Fair Trade Plus commitment.
“Back by popular demand, this cider was an instant classic when we debuted it last summer,” said Deron Davenport, head cider maker at Portland Cider Co. “This is one of our most-requested small batch ciders ever, thanks to those summertime memories of eating cold, melty creamsicles in the sunshine.”
In a brand-new partnership, Nico’s Ice Cream will be offering a summertime special of Portland Cider Tangerine Dreamsicle ice cream. The limited-run flavor will be available at Nico’s Ice Cream Shop on Northeast Fremont Street in Portland, as well as from the Nico’s mobile cart.
Tangerine Dreamsicle cider and ice cream will be co-released at a launch party on Saturday, June 4 from 3-6 pm at BloodBuzz on North Mississippi Avenue. Following the party, the cider will be available on tap, or in 19.2 oz “Proper Pint” cans at Portland CIder’s two locations and retailers throughout their distribution footprint in Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Northern California.
Portland Cider’s packaging continues to be updated to match the company’s rebranded look. For exclusive access to these and other new cider releases, join the Portland Cider Club by June 16th to receive the company’s summer shipment.
