Just twenty minutes west of Oregon’s capital hails the home of Salt Creek Cider House! Carter, the cider maker, left his 9-5 commute job for a future at his family’s multi-generational farm. You can tell right when walking in to buy a flight or some bottled ciders that he made the right decision, he’s dedicated and living his passion!
The best part of Salt Creek Cider House is the location. The heritage farm is a beautiful place for ciders and a picnic on a nice Oregon day. It’s got plenty of room for kids to run and play while adults enjoy a beverage, and with the occasional live music and food trucks, it’s family-friendly fun for all.
Salt Creek has four ciders that are part of the line-up, with a small list of seasonal rotations.
Freedom is a 7.2% ABV traditional dry cider made with apples from their legacy orchard and neighboring orchards. It’s a heritage cider that’s an ode to traditional farmstead cider making.
Wild is a 7.2% ABV semi-sweet cider with a mild tart cherry aftertaste. Made with Oregon cherries and apples, the red tinted cider lives up to its name.
Rebel Rose is a 7.2% ABV semi-sweet dusty rose colored cider. Reining as mine and the owners favorite, Rebel is blend of Oregon sourced heirloom apples, pears, blackberries and marionberries. If you ever wanted a taste of Oregon, you’ll want to rebel and try this one.
The last cider, Rebel, is a semi-dry blend of apples and pears with a 7.2% ABV. Many ciders are either an apple or perry base, but Salt Creek decided to rebel and blend them into a cider just on their own (we’re glad they did)!
