February 4, 2021What Are the Best Snacks & Ciders
for the Superbowl?
The Superbowl is one of those events where gluttony is not only accepted but encouraged. The beer will certainly be flowing for many Americans but cider is here to break the formation. We take this opportunity not only to give you great cider and food pairings but particular recipes and ciders you can get right now. Of course, if you cannot find the particular ciders, you can replace with something similar near you. Keep in mind these pairings can work even if it isn’t the big game. These all work as an excellent sports game snack and cider pairings, too.
But, for now, we are focused on the big kahuna. Here are some of the best Superbowl recipes paired with flavor-appropriate ciders.
Hopped Cider & Pizza
Cidery: Talbotts Cider Co.
Cider: IPC (Hopped Cider)
ABV: 6%

Beer and pizza may be one of the most classic combinations that has ever existed. While we do love our fermented grains our true love in the equation is the hop. Talbott’s IPC hopped cider brings the well rounded hop character that compliments the cheesy doughy balls of fun! The best part is that you can put any filling you want inside which can amp up your pairing even more. Maybe something salty like bacon or pepperoni? This is definitely one of the best drinks and food pairings for the Superbowl!
Hot Wings and Mango Cider
Cidery: Guthrie Ciderworks
Cider: Brut with Mango & Pineapple
ABV: 8%
Recipe: https://www.recipetineats.com/truly-crispy-oven-baked-buffalo-wings-my-wings-cookbook/
The main course of every football culinary throw-down is the humble hot wing. This food staple is not only necessary but is a reason to refresh your palate with a cider. As the heat picks up you can pair your delicious meat treat with tropical flavors of mango and pineapple. These flavors are akin to those spicy fruit salsas that add a bit of tartness to the heat. And Guthrie’s is smooth, refreshing and dry which should help some of the heavier things you are having to eat.
Queso Dip and Spicy CIder
Cidery: Sutton Bay Cider
Cider: Sidra-La Peno
ABV: 5.8%
Recipe: https://www.readyseteat.com/recipes-Hard-Cider-Queso-Dip-7511
Sunday football always calls for a some chips and dips am I right? Well we get to combine our two favorite things cider and cheese in dip form with this queso dip and spicy cider. The combination is an obvious choice to make the queso extra spicayyyy. Sidra-LaPeno is a spanish style cider infused with jalapeno and habanero that brings enough heat to work with. Just make sure to have some other ciders on hand if your crew can’t handle the heat!
Pigs in a Blanket and Dry Cider
Cidery: Tandem Cider
Cider: Greenman
ABV: 5.5%
Recipe: https://www.crazyforcrust.com/everything-pigs-in-a-blanket-recipe/
We all have had pigs in a blanket growing up but its time we amped it up a notch. This crowd pleaser is bound to have people grabbing for more when you add everything bagel seasoning to the mix. With all the delicious meat and dough, you will need something that is both notable and easy to drink. The Greenman by Tandem Cider is one of our favorite ciders with nice acidity and an easy to drink profile. You could probably crush a few of these during the game no problem.
Dessert and Cherry Cider
Cidery: Humboldt Cider Co.
Cider: Cherry
ABV: 6.5%
Recipe: https://www.lifeloveandsugar.com/chocolate-chip-cookie-dough-footballs/
With every party there must come an end. As the clock winds down, its time to get a dessert and final cider in our stomachs. The day was full of cooking so this cookie dough balls are a perfectly simple and easy one to make. The chocolate plays off the 6.5% abv cider that brings the best of both apples and tart cherry juice. No matter who won or lost today we are happy cider seekers and full ones too!
