Just because the calendar says its fall doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the flavors of summer still! Downeast Cider has released a One Time Series triple berry cider that you won’t want to miss out on! Survivor Bob is a scrumptious product infused with blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries, and tastes just like a refreshing glass of juice.
As with all of Downeast’s products, the can is a work of art, depicting the very island cottage that inspired the brew. Read more on their deep backstory here.
Upon opening the can (and shaking, of course!), you may think you mistakenly picked up a non-alcoholic juice drink. The scent is reminiscent of fresh berries in the summer. The color is a deep reddish-purple. Defined taste with a cloudy appearance, like all of Downeast’s products due to their unfiltered nature. You won’t notice many bubbles on the pour, as this refreshment is not heavily carbonated.
At first sip, it is very smooth and lightly carbonated, with a prominent berry taste, as though you’re sitting out in the field picking and eating them yourself. You will first notice that strong berry flavor with maybe the slightest hint of apple undertones. The second sip settles in more and is less like cider than it is juice. The berry flavor is prominent, but not overpowering. If you’re not a fan of beer and some newer ciders because of the hoppiness, this cider doesn’t have a trace of hops! If you’re not a fan of cider because of the high acidity of the apples, well, this just might be the one that changes your mind! There is very little to no carbonation, making it a very smooth drink easy to enjoy anywhere.
This cider is very different from your typical hard cider product. It doesn’t really taste much like apples, rather like those potent and tart berries. It doesn’t taste like it has any alcoholic content, as I mentioned, but comes in at 5.3% ABV. Make sure you and your kid don’t accidentally have your cups mixed up! Because this cider is a One Time Series, it will only be available while supplies last grab some off the shelves while you can! If you can’t find it in a liquor store near you, have no fear! Downeast now has this product available for shipping, location permitting.
We give Downeast Cider’s Survivor Bob 4/5 apples.
